100+ Asia Restaurants of 2021: See the List


Opinionated About Dining (OAD) has revealed the Top 100+ Asia of 2020, including a new additional casual category of budget-friendly , as voted for by an expert membership.

Ultra-Violet by Paul Pairet, tops this year’s  of 150 restaurants for a third consecutive year. Located in Shanghai, China, French chef Pairet continues to push boundaries with his multi-sensory immersive dining experience designed to challenge diners’ notions of taste and cuisine.

Swedish chef Bjorn Frantzen’s Zén – Frantzen, led by executive chef Tristan Farmer in Singapore, is in second place. The restaurant serves creative modern Nordic cuisine inspired by Japanese kaiseki, and sources premium regional produce from the likes of Japan and organic farms in Hong Kong.

Sorn by Supaksorn “Ice” Jongsiri, set in an old reconstructed house in Bangkok, Thailand, is in third place. The chef draws on his southern Thai upbringing, fusing vibrant native ingredients with the revival of long-lost recipes and techniques.

In the new category, OAD Top 100+ Casual Asia Restaurants of 2021, old-school hawker cart Sungei Road Laksa, which serves Peranakan cuisine in Singapore, takes the top spot, while Thailand’s renowned street food hawker Supinya ‘Jay Fai’ Junsuta also made the top ten. 

Japan is absent from the OAD top 100+ Asia restaurant as it has it’s own dedicated country , totalling in impressive 150 restaurants. See the OAD top 100+ Japan restaurant list.
